Recreate lettering hand controls xj600

Does anyone have a good way of recreating the lettering for the hand controls? Mine has faded away and you can no longer make out what they say, therefore I'm going to paint the die cast cases satin black. I didn't know if there are tiny alphabet decals white 4mm high. I have looked all over and there is no recess to paint in and wipe off like others suggest.

Please let me know.

Sorry, just noticed the Xj600 part - not sure if @chacal would have the decals for the 600.

 

I bought some decals off of eBay, they were listed as Yamaha dirt bike

 

hi, i had some stickers made up at a local sign shop a few years ago ,and they work well, though mine were in yellow on black background, i think they may be closed till after christmas , but i am going to see if they are open tomorrow " friday" , i can get some run off for you in Black on White. if they are suitable for you. i did all the hard work measuring and drawing them for the printer. think they are very slightly smaller than the original . see what you think, i could send you some if they're ok, cant cost more than a few quid.

 

if you are spraying the housings anyway, then its best to put the stickers on after spraying ,then clearcoat over the stickers.
let me know , i'm getting some more run of anyway ,for my next project

the ones "jetfixer" referes to are not oriented the correct way for the 600,
mine are for the original xj600
Horn and STARTER are indented into the buttons

ok , had a walk down to sign shop today , and they're closed with all shutters down, gonna call in when they're open

 

I have bought white on clear printing tape and resprayed the die cast housings then coated with clear coat laquer

 

That looks pretty nice, @Mattio . I'm curious - what sort of printer does one use to make those?

This is the printer and tape, white on clear printing laminate using the smallest font on a bold setting, thanks for the replies, if you notice the red switch is also now more prominent as before hand this was sun dyed and more of a pinky colour, I used red acrylic paint and hand brushed two coats then clear coated to protect the paint.

 

Nice work, looks really good. I hope the clear coat will do well in the weather elements, let us know how the first yr goes.

 

Hi - yes I know what you mean about the weather but I'm only going to use this old lady on the limited summer days that we get in the UK.

As promised I have completed the Xj600 rebuild, I have kept the bike as original as possible and now just requires a test, looking forward to the better weather.

 

Bike looks great. Great to see another one ready for the road.

I have just repainted the engine with a satin black and highlighted the side casings by painting in Yamaha in white
