i am wanting to buy a 1981 yamaha seca 750, i had a 2011 honda cbr 250 for 4 months to gain experience as a new rider. Do you think the Seca is a heavy bike at slow speeds ? is it a good bike for me ? thanks !!

Best way to find out is if you can test ride the bike. I went from a Suzuki GT 250 to a Honda CB750. For me the bigger bike felt more stable. I don't think you should have any problems with the Seca but best to try it first. I don't think my 900f is heavy at slow speeds. Good luck.

You, are the only person to decide if the bike is right for you. Yes, it will feel heaver at low speeds than the CB250, you will learn how to deal with the added mass of the 750 as you learn the characteristics of the bike.
I'm gonna guess here that the Seca is about 100 lbs heavier than the 250, maybe more, plus the Seca sits higher. These are not negatives, just things to be aware of.
If you buy it, ride smart, enjoy, have fun.

Not only is the Seca heavier but has much more power 82 horsepower so it is quite a step up from a 250 . I have owned numerous other bikes in my opinion I prefer the seca overall . But it depends how it is set up IE tires , does it have progressive fork springs, have rear shocks been replced or upgraded . I know your not looking for canyon carving preformance but these are things to relize about these bikes.

When I made the jump from a Honda CM250C to an '83 XJ650 Maxim 20 years ago, it was a piece of cake.

I love my 2011 CBR250R, and yes the 750 is going to feel much heavier. The CBR wet weight is 361 lbs & the 750 wet weight is 531.3 lbs. The weight difference has more to do with what they feel like pushing them around the garage than what they feel like going down the road.

It's like comparing apple to oranges with these two bikes. The CBR is light with a short wheel base and is very nimble and flickable. The 750 is more laid-back, and feels more planted on the road, much more comfortable on a long ride.

My XJ650 is much heavier than my CBR, but that doesn't mean it's any less fun, or harder to ride. They are both great bikes, but they are built different and they ride different.

Sorry that I'm being very helpful in answering your question, but it's impossible to give a definitive answer.

The biggest difference is found when you need to pick up a bike when tipped over.
