Help needed, ignition removal xj900f

    Hi, can someone enlighten me as how to remove ignition barrel from my xj900f please ? Also what size of screws/bolts holds barrel to yoke, I can't seem to see them. Thanks..

    They are Allen cap bolts 5mm l think and you need to remove them from underside of the switch.

    not sure about the 900 but i think you will find that the bolts are 6mm security bolts, they are shear off heads ,leaving a smoothe top .if they are ,then the only way to remove them is to take off the top yoke, and chisel them out , by putting a small drill indetent in the head then tap it round with a centre pop.
    i'll see if i can find photos, of the one i did on my 600

    Bensalf could be right because my 900f has Allen bolts but they are not original. I didn't know it had security bolts on makes sense though. Where is the wire broken?

    You can strip both sections of wire thread some shrink tube on one half. Twist wires together and solder them. Then slide shrink tube over it and use a flame to shrink the tube. If it's broken going into the switch you would need to open switch up.

    Just in process of trying to get the bolts out, .. took handles and yoke off .. on bench now trying to figure how to get bolts out !!!

    I've got the smaller 2 screw out . How do you get the 2 bigger ones out that hold it to the yoke ? And what to replace them with once out ,?

    All bolts out, ignition stripped and wire broken/separated at the solder spot.. will have a look at it tomorrow now.. thanks all..
