RE: Kei hin carbs Model No VE64B AVL

These Carbys have been fitted to a 1982 XJ750 RJ
Bike currently being restored

These carbys have been cleaned in a sonic cleaner and reassembled.
Have been put back and bike stated and seem to very effective.
Carbys started leaking due to bowl gaskets not been replaced

QUESTION'S

I would like you guidance regarding the above bikes carbys.

Could any one advise me regarding where i can locate the best place to obtain a set of gasket or original rubber seals for the bowl .
Or should just make my own gaskets ( from gasket paper ) if so do you see any problems associated with this
Any information or Diagrams or websites address would be greatly appreciated on these carbys

The information that i can gather from the net is that these where original designed for 84-86 Honda CBX750 would you agree with this ?

I have enclosed photos of the bowl and carbie for your perusal

Thanks for the reply and i have checked these out.
They certainly look correct
The problem also is that there is little information on these carbs and i was wondering if the group had used them before or if
anyone new exactly what bike these came off.
I have written to some of the suppliers on eBay of carby kits for the 84-86 Honda CBX750 to find out
whether the fit the Kei hin carbs Model No VE64B AVL.
But as usual i received no response. I have contact about a dozen with no response
I have also written to Astemo - Keihin North America requesting information and awaiting reply

I will keep trying and hopefully will be able to recieve the information

Well hell, what are you going to use for jetting? You will have to start from scratch and spend a fortune on different jets.
Or go with what you have if its close enough?
By some Hitachis..

 

The CBX s a similar era UJM with a bit more poke according this https://www.motorcyclespecs.co.za/model/Honda/honda_cbx750f.htm if it runs ok witout flat spots then just stick with it, it might even give the XJ a performance boost .
They are both 34 mm CV carbs a the end of the day..

 

I was closely acquainted with a CBX750 in the late 80s that went around the clock more than once. Bullet-proof lumps, made all the better by the hydraulic cam followers.
Probably the only Honda of the day I'd have bought, and it's a pity the hydraulic followers didn't appear on other engines (apart from H-D, as the article suggests).

 

Hi Dave I will probably go with whats in there at the moment. As discussed in previous post the carbys were ok until they started leaking. However if i can find out the exact year model and brand of bike they came out of I will probably buy a carby kit.Hoping soneone out there might know
