I have come to this conclusion beacuse sometimes I can pull the plug and I have oil fouled. Other times the plug looks fine. Does anyone in know how to keep a ring from sticking? I dont want to tear into the top end.

It's not that the ring is sticking, it is most likely that a valve guide seal is leaking. Are you sure that it is oil fouling and not just wet from fuel? Either way to fix it the cylinder head would have to come off.
There is also the possibility that the crankcase is over filled and a fuel oil mix is getting sucked into the air box via the breather hose. This happens when the petcock starts leaking, floods the carbs and this over flow moves down the intake and into a cylinder. From there it goes to the crankcase and mixes with the oil. So check your oil level and get back to us on how to fix that problem.

Well I Dont think it is fuel getting into the oil because it only happens on the #3 and it acually burns oil. Also I have done a compression test and i am about 30lbs low on that cylinder. Will the seals lower the compression as well? The oil light will come on every 400 miles or so.

:( :? :x While im in the head should shim the valves as well. How much should I expect to spend, and where can I get all the shims gaskets and seals? My father in law owns the local machine shop so all that work will be free.
