I recently had the carburetors rebuilt along with other tune-up areas. The engine runs smoothly, starts instantly, but after a few minutes of riding it acts like it is out of fuel (it isn’t). I flip to reserve and it typically will start up again and then flip back to run. After the second or third time of doing that fix and will no longer start up. Has anyone experienced this issue? Is there any advice about what the problem could be?

Tank vent may be blocked. Open the gas cap and see it that solves the problem. If not, I would check the petcock operation, especially the vacuum line going to the petcock.

Awesome. That makes sense to me. I will reply when I get to it.

A little background on the bike would help here. Has it been sitting, is this a refresh or restoration job you are doing on an older bike? What does the inside of the gas tank look like?

Doing a flow test on the petcock might be a good idea as well. Running a hose to a jug or clear container and then create a vacuum on the little hose that would go to the carb boot. That will allow you to flip between on and Res or prime if you have that option. If you have a PRI option that will bypass the vacuum part of the petcock and the fuel should run with no vacuum needed.
