    Hi
I need to replace the cracked carb boots on my 1980 XJ650 4KO.
I can only find replacements for 1982 onwards.
    See ebay item 322846421296

Does anyone know if later models are compatible?

    Thanks
    Steve

I get a little fuzzy on all the Yamaha model numbers, codes etc. but I believe the 4K0 applies to multiple European bikes 80 - 83 as the frame ID. Assuming you have a 1980 it should be the non Yics motor. I can't find that item number on eBay but many (not all) 82/83 models had Yics engines and those intakes are not compatible.

If you can swing the extra money, I would highly recommend purchasing the OEM ones. They're available here through Chacal (Len) info@xj4ever.com. He sells both OEM and quality aftermarket ones. I've had a cheap set delaminate internally within a day!! Email him for more info. He has kits too with the bolts and gaskets.

If you want to try the eBay route, this is what you'd need:

Here is the info on the bike I believe you have.

    MODEL NAME: XJ650
    STREET NAME: 1980 XJ650
    MODEL ID CODE: 4K0
    FRAME ID: 4K0
    SERIAL NUMBER STARTS AT: 000101
NOTE: styling and features the same as North American XJ650RJ Seca model, has dual front disc brakes, an oil cooler, and uses the non-YICS 653cc engine.

    Thanks @jayrodoh.
This is great info. Hopefully I'll get some time this weekend to go through it.
I'll let you know how it goes.
