I always find that statement amusing, because “they STOPPED running WHEN PARKED”.

It’s a roundabout way of just saying “doesn’t run”
I’ll bet it ran when new

No need the founding father of this thread did a wonderful job on the name when it was started, it was cl this bike, cl that bike. Now the majority of cl is facebook postings. I just noticed and decided to comment on it.

I lost sleep last night trying to talk myself out of it.
I just can't see riding it when I have 2 old Secas now.
That one is nice enough for someone who just wants a museum show piece.
The only thing I see missing is the tank emblems and XJ4ever has them

Funny— if you look at my 900 that has all the trophies, there are no tank emblems either.

Reason: my tank was a NOS tank direct from Yamaha, and never had the emblems installed. They came in separate plastic baggie/sleeves ( I have the emblems STILL IN those sleeves)

I currently have 5 bikes, downsized from 7, all shiny riders.
    82 XJ911-X Seca w/Velorex 562 sidecar
    82 XJ650LJ Seca Turbo custom
    24 KLR650ABS - my touring bike
    05 KTM EXC525 dirt, dual-sport and supermoto
    04 KDX220R dirt

65 next year, retirement is next April.
My goal is to ride more and wrench less.
There are 4 of us on KLRs riding to mid-Ohio vintage days end of July, really looking forward to this, never been to it.
When it comes down to it, putting along on my 650 single is my Zen zone.
A bit of adventure touring is the plan but probably just US/Can.
The Turbo will get the 772 big block conversion this winter.
I hope someone here buys that RJC, I'll even facilitate the deal as it is real close by.
$2000 CDN is only $1460 real dollars, you would never restore one for that.

    Damn it!
I made the mistake of going to look at this bike and I reached an agreement to buy.
Will be returning tomorrow to get it.
It is just in unbelievable condition.
It needs floor space in some museum.

I'll sell it to you Jay, RJC model was unobtanium in the USA.
My wife is in Europe at the moment, think she'd notice it sitting in the corner of our living room?

Yea I expected the photos were probably 20 years old prior to sticking it in a damp garden shed.
I looked underneath, the exhaust is perfect. The bike has never been dropped.
He drained the tank 30 years ago and it's shiny metal inside.
The instrument faces are like new.
I found a scratch on the front fender, that's about the only blemish I could find.

@Simmy, congrats! Well bought. I had a brief moment of consideration for that bike but I forced myself to not think about it. Thank you for saving us from ourselves. And for giving such a pretty bike a good home.

Might have originally been purchased by a GI and the ARMY shipped it home to the US for him. Surely is a project though.

I just might make a trip up to Duluth and check it out... on my SECA. The what gets me is the whole "overhauled" thing with only 16,000 miles on the clock, maybe I could pick it up cheaper but do I really need another SECA?

Those things that look like speaker grills over the "glove boxes" are intriguing. Was there a radio option available for that fairing? Mine just has the keyed doors.

The windshield makes it look dorky. A proper windscreen wouldn't look nearly as dorky.

I like the fairing - keeps my feet warm on those chilly days.

That's a thought, problem is I have to come up with the cash to buy it. Sent the seller a reply so I'm waiting to hear back, plan is to ride up there on my SECA and scope it out and if all is well make the next move. Know of anyone looking for some big QSC sound reinforcement amps?
