This is a bit odd but, I swear (unless I'm imagining it), that those holes aren't equidistant to the teeth location.

I've had it happen twice now where I've got it all setup and one of the cams is slightly off to the marking (or little hole on the 900 in the end cap).

I've dropped the sprocket off the cam shoulder and rotated the sprocket to the other hole and then the marker is spot on.

Am I imagining this or have other people had the same experience?

Not experienced it myself, but it makes a bit of sense that they would set things up so exactly that would happen - gives the factory assemblers a choice of positions, allowing for tolerances.
Sure saves a bucket load of time and money if the alternative is eyeballing it in with slots and measuring, and even that's no good for production bike. Racing, sure, not production.
