Got no good hardware stores around that carry powersports stuff? They usually stock fork oil.

Dont know if the auto parts stores will have it or not. Advance auto parts here has a small engine section with bike stuff in it. They may have it. Just ask. They carry stuff like the spark plugs and motorcycle oil though. Worth a try. I found my fork oil at the steelership. I think 12.00 for a quart. Expensive stuff but worth the extra for the stuff. I got the 15w. A little stiffer than stock. Figured it couldn't hurt.

Wish I had a suggestion here, but there IS a lesson here...........

The need to ride and the opportunity lost will not go easly forgotten.

Wish I could tell you to just use trans fluid or something but you need to do this right!

So Tuesday stop and pick up some oil on the way home from work and be ready to ride next weekend (days off)

    Good Luck there

Hi Ridz, if you work in a dirt burner, you have shoveled coal.
Now I just stay in the control room.

The worst thing is when it gets wet and pluggs the chutes.
When I was doing that kind of work I came up with an impact chistle that had about a 3' handle on it. That really worked!

Where's that land of milk and honey at?

Got a vacation coming up, going to Omaha and see my kid, then to take my wife and show her the Presidents, then to Yellowstone then back to AZ

FWIW, my manual states that 10W30 motor oil can be subbed for fork oil. Not sure if you can do that with the 85 Maxim X but its a shot in the dark. cruzerjd

Motorex do a 10w/30 fork oil, just ordered some for my 1980 XJ650. Never previously looked for or seen a multigrade fork oil. The original spec. was 10w/30 motor oil.
