I have a 1981 XJ750RH, and thanks to other threads I've posted it is now running perfectly, or so I think, it is my first ever bike, and it stalls everytime I let off the clutch. Doesn't matter how slowly I do it. As I let of the clutch it just slowly dies. I can hit the throttle as I let off the clutch to get her started, and I have to hit the throttle pretty hard, but even with hitting it hard it drops down to below/up to 1000 revs as I do so, almost stalling. Is that normal or has the 300cc 2014ish bikes I went to school for altered my 'normal'.

When you say stalls, do you mean a sudden engine stop? That would be a safety switch like your kick stand swx not working right. You might be having a lot or respect for he 750 and just not giving it enough throttle to get the bike going? Being your first bike after the 300 course bike?

The bike starts up just fine? You can "blip" the throttle and the engine will rev to almost redline with no issues? The brakes are free and not binding, front or rear? You can roll the bike freely and move it around by hand? If the bike is free moving and not being stopped by brakes or binding of any type, normal throttle and clutch work should make the bike move.

So it might be the cold start that gets it, that is the most often I've seen it die. But as of today I've tried to go at a T section and let off the clutch, and it died. Letting go of the clutch and I might have throttled too hard before fully letting of the clutch. My main question was concerning it dying without any throttle. Right before posting this, I tried just getting it off the driveway and it slowly dies as I let off the clutch. I've got it started, nicely warmed up after this morning, and it's just no throttle, just letting off the clutch. Like I'm sat with it running, uphill, and I let off the clutch to get her rolling, and as I am, she goes to 1000 revs, then bellow and stalls

Imma take the bike apart and clean the choke and carb, cus I've been meaning to do so, also replace the not engine oil, it's a non chain bike, can't remember the name for it, I was just wondering if it might be something else? Can't see it being much wrong with her, I'm able to ride around town no issues, as long as I'm gentle with her
