    Hey all! In celebration of 10 yrs sober, i splurged.. 20260216_172048.jpg Just got home with an 82 maxim 650.. doesn't start, but I'm told it runs.. didn't really care.. wanted a wrencher. Looks like I've got it. Excited to dig through here often!

    Welcome to the asylum @Olewildbill !

    Looks like the engine has a YICS head, so would tend to think that its an 82 (???)

    Maybe they started installing YICS engines late in the 81 production run ???

    I don't think the engine is original to the bike.. my understanding is that the VIN on the engine and the frame should match and they do not on this bike..
