..since after swapping the discs and pads the pads keep clicking.
The guiding pins (is this the correct English term?) are okay.

Maybe the calipers are simply worn out.
    I have a set of R6 calipers on my '91 FJ1200.

Is a similar swap possible for my '88 xj900f?

My 1988 FJ1200 3CV has also got R1 blue spot calipers and are a direct fit to the 298mm front discs.
The 1988 XJ900 has got 267mm front discs so doubt R1 or R6 front brake calipers will fit without some adapters.

    Indeed, hence my question..
Maybe replacing the anti-vibration spring/plate will help?

Are you using EBC sintered pads with new EBC discs? My FJ has a slight clicking when the brakes are applied.

I have new Lucas/TRW discs and pads from the same brand.
I noticed that the holes for de guiding pins have widened- i think, i do not know how much play is original.
I could drill 'em out and place bushes but.. where to find such small bushes?
