I have a video that might interest you folks...

On top of this, I redid the bench sync to find I had synced off the wrong carb as my "control" adjustment(This time i used the drill bit method and it brought them very close to inline, now i need to cut some new gaskets for the intake boots and we shall see what happens).

Nice. Missing bolt will do that. Remove it and re seal gasket and presto you will be able to balance carbs.

I come from the far off lands of harley ownership as a necromancer, imbued with hearing loss and rattled bones. I command this thread to ARISE....LIVE, your hour is at HAND.

    Heya fellas, It's been awhile.

A lot has happened since I last posted in this thread, and i didn't want to make a new one, since this is already here(and i apologize).
So i've finally dragged this bike out of the back of the shop where it has been trapped for about 8-ish years, and started throwing money back at it again.

So I've swapped the bars out
    20260826_183451.jpg

Removed the airbox without damaging it(without removing the engine...took some wigglin')

I had to order some aftermarket hand controls, as the originals had some hidden wiring issues I didn't catch when i was working on it last(It could also have been a rat). So I'm likely going to do a full harness strip and go over it with a fine point soldering iron, and will be relocating all of the major electrical systems to a central point. The hand control harnesses were cut by the previous owner and some of the harness is melted... So Off it comes(for the 2nd time). I've also considered the possibility of using one of the motogadget controllers to simplify the wiring, but we'll cross that bridge when it's burning.

I'm also going to be doing something incredibly stupid by attempting to install and tune for a set of velocity stacks, after I pull them apart and clean the varnish out in a nice hot simple green HD bath in my ultrasonic.

I know alot of y'all aren't to fond of this modification, but I'm going to try it before i throw money at that murray's carb setup my co-worker has on his cb750(which he loves), as I enjoy the look.

I've fully commited to turning this into a cafe bike, future plans include a fork swap, 4-1 exhaust, and suspension upgrades(gsxr or R1 front forks, ohlins rears which I already have), some body modifications(paneling, an aero fairing, and seat), and some nice rearsets(Provided I can find a set that fits the US model XJ bikes, haven't dug into that to far just yet, but i could also make my own).

I've been through 4 bikes since I last posted here, and I'm just harley'd out and want something different.

So Here Goes nothin', and may God have mercy on my wallet,
(hopefully my next update doesn't take 8 years ;))
