It was a start to a cool windy morning in WI on Sunday May 3ed. Met up with a few friends in Tomah WI and made our way to Wonewoc for a great breakfast brunch. Met some more friends and riders there and made or way to Leland WI on the back roads.

Wind was the only issue for the day, hard to even sight see, had to concentrate on the road and keeping a line. Roads we were on didn't have any hill or tree protection, so make the trip down interesting. Pulled into town early and with in an hour or two, the bikers started to flood in.

We left shortly after 2pm and by that time the town of Leland looked like an ant pile with people and bikes moving as far as the eye could see.

Here are just a few of the cool bikes and most of the old school Yamaha bikes that I saw.

Those were the only two older Yamaha bikes that I could find. Bikes kept coming and going so I am sure I missed many.

    Super custome HD.

Had to do a search on this one to see why it was in the back of a pickup and not ridden into town. Very rare limited production bike with an interesting stearing head.

There were three Honda CB750 that had been converted to chopper style bikes. The one with the purple paint the owner said was punched out to a 901. It was hands down the best looking of the three.

Had some very cool older HD's there as well. This one is ridden in every yr, for just a short time and then they headed out. Have to love how much oil and grease they leave on these old bikes.

You could spend all day looking and talking to great folks from every brand name bike. Really great day of riding, good food, great friends and a common joy of interacting with a great motorcycle family.

Fall edition of the Slimy Crud run is in the books. Started off a little cool, left the house 52F and returned at the same temp a little over 12 hrs later. Met up with the riding group and hit the all you can eat brunch at Wonewoc WI. Great home cooked food from the locals. Super nice folks there at the American Legion. There is even a B&B right across the street for those that might want to come to the area.

We pulled into Leland WI around 10:30 and things were slow. This spring, there were well over 100 bikes there at that time, I think the temps and some wind kept people off their bikes. Two hours later, that all changed, the town of Leland looks like an ant mount with bikes coming and going. The street, parking lots and then the fields started to fill with bikes of every type, age and condition. Even a few on trailers this time around.

Out group stayed for just show of four hours, easy to do, just keep taking laps and there would be so many new bikes and people to see and chat with. The ground was very wet, so unfortunately for some of those that parked in the grass, a few bikes did fall over. That of just poor planning by the rider on where to park their bikes.

As far as the bikes, many of the Euro bikes were there. That is how the Wisconsin Slimy Crud got started almost 50 yrs ago now. BMW, Norton, Enfield Guzzy and many more. Didn't see to many XJ bikes, I think I got a loot at a few smaller Yams but that was about it. There were a few rare bikes as well, a Motus MST looking a lot like a Motor Guzzy but not. The guy started it up for me and I was not impressed. I guess it is the bike with half an LS motor in it, or so described. Didn't sound great, but then I noticed that his headers were lose and that could have been the noise I was hearing. Lots of people were eyeing it.

From the era of bikes that we are used to here, there was a few older Ninjas, one very nice Honda interceptor 1000, and these bikes:

As mentioned before the temps were a little cool. I chose the smart ride, the 2002 Wing. I was contemplating the XJ900 but with no wind protection at all, nope. One of the group was on a very nice Honda PC800, it was the only one I saw at the event. Many people around the bike speaking to others about fond memories when they had one.

Our ride loop was around 200 miles, we had a great time with a few close calls with cars on the back roads. All returned home safe with new memories and a great day of wind therapy.
