Funny how you wait and look all summer long for fall and winter project bikes and nothing. Then you get three or four that pop up. This bike is that case.

While I am looking for a good project 1st Gen V65 I saw this bike in my area.

Here is the air filter, I will be putting a mouse block screen on the air intake.

The PO fell on some real hardship over the past three yrs ending with the death of his wife from cancer. Seemed like a very nice guy, I wish him well as he head back to the panhandle of FL.

As most of you project folks know, the first thing we do with these older carb bikes is the carbs. If you ever get a chance to work on one of these Gen 3 bikes do it. Taking the carbs out of this bike compared to a 1st Gen is night and day. Easy to clean and then install with very little effort even being the first time for me and this model.

I don't have any of the pics of me taking the carbs out, cleaning or putting them back in. I was on a mission to see if I could get this bike up and running and maybe even title and ride it a little this season.

Here at the pics after I removed all the rattle can paint today. Yes very well ventilated room, two fans going and a lot of acetone and old micro fiber rags.

Bike starts and runs well. Today here with Wisconsin it was nothing but rain. Hope to get her out tomorrow or vary soon for a shake down ride.

Are you saying this red yellow paint job was under black paint?

Yes I am, that is why I added all those pics of before and after. That one pic of the gas tank that is part yellow and block. Someone before me had either dipped it or rattle paint can it. Most came off okay, the rear fender under the tank is just thick. I left it for now, can't really see that area anyway.

    Missed this pic:

I think the yellow was factory, but not that red on top of it. I wanted one too..... however, I did have a V65 that I restored, that was fun.

    That's awesome
@Rayzerman is probably right that yellow could be Honda paint, maybe your acetone will remove the red.

That V4 probably runs nice, they must be very similar to the 750 VFR, chain driven cams though

I worked on, cleaned the carbs on a first generation 750 years ago and it was a hateful thing. I haven't even considered one since because of that. I have an '86 VT1100 Shadow now that was so much easier, I was pleasantly surprised when I did it's carbs.

Seeing that bike reminds me that I have a '93 VT1100 that needs some TLC. It's been sitting in my mom's garage "temporarily" for the last 3 years and probably hasn't been ridden in at least 5. Time flies. Hopefully I'll get time to get it cleaned up this winter so I can sell it in the spring. It's a nice bike, but not really my style.
