Does anyone know anything about Honda V4's?

    I'm looking at a 1984 VF1000FE and owndering if anyone knows anything about them? I can;t find much on the web about htem, and the vf1000 forum is not very helpful....

    I used to have an 83 Magna V65. I loved that bike. Lots of torque. And ran with the big dogs (as long as I didn't have to make a turn). The VF motors are totally identical in design from 81-90. If I can help, I will. But I haven't wrenched on that bike in over a decade.

    I know it's not completely revelant, but if you look to the Sab/Mag (saber/magna) owners group, they might be able to help as well.

    I have read that the cams are soft in the 750 Interceptor motors. Not sure how much carry over this has to other Hondas of similar years.

    Miss my V-45, great machine. Cam chain guides died early so be aware.

    I remember running across a site that had a procedure for tapping into the oil system and piping it up to the valve covers; from what they were saying, the oil flow to the cams was inadequate, causing premature wear.

    Thats exactly what I was told when I went looking at a Saber. That and they are expensive to work on in parts and labor
