    Hey Everyone,

I finally pulled my bike out of the garage today after a couple months of no real riding. During the course of the day, I rode a bit even though there is some work that needs to be done (brakes are starting to squeal, clutch is starting to slip).

Anyway, during the course of the day, I almost lost the bike in a simple little corner at a stop light. I popped the clutch to get out before traffic, maybe there was some gravel or water or ice in the corner, I don't know, but I almost lost the bike. I held on well enough to ride out the shudders until the rear end was back under me. Not pretty, and also not something that would usually happen.

The point is, after a long break in riding, take it easy for a little while. No need to get crazy on the first day back after a long winter. If I would have done that, I wouldn't have had a stupid close call.

I agree. And here in Minnesota, there's alot of sand/salt still on the roads, especially in intersections where is accumilates during the winter months. So be careful out there! I like to wait till we get a good downpour to wash the roads off before riding, but sometimes, ya just can't wait!! PD
