Hey thanks for the previous advice. Test drove it yesterday. A nice way to have a first ride of the season :) We worked out the deal today. And if all goes well with the safety check certification then, come Monday i'll be another addict...i mean rider of an '85 maxim 750-x. xj750xn.

Finding this forum last week helped with the confidence knowing that I'll be able to get some good information for dealing with an 85...hey I mean its not old...its young... its HALF my age...and almost as wild :)

When the deal is closed I'll post some pics.

Congratulations!! And welcome to the fold!!

If you're interested, there's an XJ micapeak mailing list that has a lot of MaximX guys. And a lot of them are in Ontario, including MaximX Yoda, Harald "www.maxim-x.com" Pfeiffer! <-- Or something like that... ;-)

There's even a carb clinic being held in June up in Huntsville.

Hope the safety goes well! J

There's some discussion of the NOCC (Nothern Ontario Carb Clinic) but most attention seems to be given to the MCC (Maritime Carb Clinic) which is happening a couple weekends earlier. Of course, if you're up to a late May jaunt out to Nova Scotia, you can convoy up with a few other Ontarians making the trip down east.

For the NOCC, as far as I remember it's being held on Father's Day weekend.

Out of curiosty, did you find out about the state of the valves on your bike?

Hmm I'll have to think on that. Fater's day I might get in trouble. Kids like to plan something at home for me. A trip to N.S. would be awesome, but I've also got an invite from some local riders to join them on a jaunt down to the tail of the dragon in June so I might have to pick and chose.

I'll need to read up some more about what happes at the Carb clinics. My bike apparently had new carbs put on last year at a cost of $700. I'll have to get a sense of how often they need attention and how to tell the earliest signs that they need attention.

Just picked up the bike at noon !!!! Can't wait to get back out of work !!!

No info on the valve adjustment he hadn't done anything in the last 4 years (10,000 km ) and he had no clue about the previous owner.

I paid 2,500 certified and trasnfer taxes included. he ended up having to get the front steering bearings done during the safety check

ok whats the trick for posting pictures here? I looked through the faq its just talking about links out to other sites. But I knw I've seen pics here right in the message body. But it won't let me paste in and won't let me attach. These aren't huge pictures only about 250kb size.

Or is it best to make a gallery?

I use photobucket (.com). Just upload pics from your computer to an account that you create. Then you can cut and paste the image links from photobucket into your posts here.

Cool thanks for sugestion. I guess i could also just use the "public" links for non-members from my Facebook albums too.

So how are people here putting pics and diagrams right into the message body? Looks common here, or is that discouraged due to to server space?
