I have a 82 Yamaha XJ650 Maxim and the starter button broke off and now when I turn the ignition key on the motorcyle starts but after it cranks I believe it is still trying to start. I've been looking for a starter button, but can't seem to be able to find anyone with new or used parts. Please help!!!

In the mean time, until you get the new button in the mail, disconnect the 2 small wires from your starter relay - - if you want to run your engine you can cross the relay with a wrench or other small piece of metal.

If you are looking for starter button I have them listd on ebay. If you go there my user name is jzues3 or look up xj650 starter/horn button. Let me know it's you and I will give you free shipping on the item. I know how it is looking for parts on these old bikes. If nothing else good luck!

My starter button broke less than a year after I bought the XJ550, while it was still under warranty. The replacement has lasted over 30 years, knock on wood.
