Hello. I bought my 1981 550 maxim for 400 bucks in the spring to replace my 350 honda enduro.

Has been a great bike so far. Easily embarasses my buddy's 05 ninja 250. I was really shocked at the power it has for an ole 550!

Only problem I had was the kickstand switch which is bypassed now. Anyways figured i'd just join up and have some fun.

Heres a pic from the night I got it. Its the only one i have so far...

    Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Peewee, she looks great! Where are you located (general geographic area)? A bypassed kickstand switch is usually the quick'n dirty of a shady shade tree. Wonder why it got hacked.

I bypassed the kickstand switch myself. Quick and dirty yes, but it stopped it from killing when i put it in gear!

But yeah so far she still runs great. I love the cool fall rides in Wisconsin... Thanks for the welcome.

Not bad for 400 bucks, considering the age and mileage ( 21k )...

Yeah. If I bought it with muffs I probably would have left them, but its how I bought it. And I must say I've grown to love the sound! Very loud and mean.
