I am working on a 83 Maxim XJ750 for my neighbor. He needs a tach. His is very sluggish and is hardly working. PM me if you have one you wish to part with.
    Thanks,

    Ed

have you made sure it's screwed in all the way. Mine would stop working when the cable would come loose

Is it cabel activated or electric?
I have a complete set of gauges from a 82 650 Seca that's in perfect condition. PD

Hurst, I'd like to get a'hold of your "bad" unit. I'm sure I can get it happy again. PM me if interested.

The tach is electronic. On some of the Honda modes you can spray some lubricant into the tach and it helps. It takes quite a few times revving the engine to come up to above 3K. I will eventually drop back after engine cutoff. I just figured I would look for another one.

Electronic the tach is but the display is mechanical. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts the piviot joints are caked with dried out old grease. A bit of electrical cleaner powered through there followed by a drop of sewing machine oil (DO NOT use 3-in-1, it will gum up the works) should see it right.

    Thanks Robert,

That is typically the cure for the tach on my Magna but I was unsure whether it had been successful on the XJ.

    MaximXJ,

Thanks, I can use it as long as it is electronic.

    MaximXJ,

I guess I should have asked the price first.

    Thanks, Ed

It's in decent condition, however when looking at it now I realize that the trip knob/reset is missing.

They have 12544 miles on them

if you still want them, feel free to make an offer

If you could send me a picture of it I would like to see it. I would prefer that you named the price.

They look pretty much like the one I'm working on. What do you have to have for them? I will ask my friend if he wants them.
    Thanks, Ed
