I decided to try again since it is once again warm outside to get this bike going... a few people had some advice in september, as posted in this thread.....

    http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=6402.html

I can still only get the bike to idle at 4k. I set up for a tune/sync today (petcock on prime), hooked to a manometer, and within 10 minutes the bike started blowing all sorts of white smoke from the exhaust and gas was pouring from the backside of the engine?!?

Afterwards, i decided to drain the bowls as well, and there wasn't any gas in the bowl on the far right side as your sitting on the bike.

I have no idea on how to proceed from here... any thoughts would be appreciated.

check your oil you may have gas in it. Does the exhaust smell of stron gas fumes? If so you got gas in your oil and I would not run it until you change the oil. After you do that you would probley want to take a good look at the carbs again and petcock. Also put a little seafoam or something of that type in the oil after you check it. If you were having low compressin like they posted in the other thread you could have sticky rings. Please anybody correct me if I am wrong. I'm not a machanical genius but thought I would offer my 2 cents worth.

check your floats make sure they move up and down with ease. make sure there adjusted correct. If your getting gas in ur airbox then ur petcock is leaking or ur float valves are no good.

This ones for rickomatic previous threads say what you need to do. do a search for carb clean and sync.

I already did everything suggested in the previous post.... cleaned carbs, bench synced, float levels, seafoam, mystery oil.... thats why I feel it might be something really bad like needing new rings or broken valves?

According to your previous post one bowl was empty. The gasoline coming out the air box indicates at lease one bowl is overflowing.

You need to get your float levels set and make sure none of the float needles are sticking.

This isn't a ring or valve problem.
