Would like to buy factory fairing for my '81 XJ750R Seca. If not an original fairing, maybe one that looks very similar.

I know I'm asking a lot, but it never hurts to ask. I'll just keep on wishing.

    Thanks.....

Are the fairings for the Seca 750 that hard to find? I was hoping to pick one up myself.

You can look at www.partsnmore.com and go to the accesories link on the left side and all the way at the bottom you can get a universal fairing for around $70.

I've heard they are hard to find, because not that many were made when the bikes came out and alot of the ones that were made -end up getting broken due to wrecking or laying down the bike.

MaximXJ - Who are you talking to about the fairing? Cause I'd paid for shipping.

I just sold one local that was on my 80 XJ650 for $40 to get it out of my garage last week.

The fairing isn't in the best of shape and I don't really believe that it would be worth it to ship.

    Sorry

This is probably a dummy's question, but what is the difference between a fairing and a windscreen? Coming from a bit of a racing background to me a "fairing" summons an image of a partially opaque, swept back front cowling with a transparent windscreen on top. While I think of the latter as a transparent shield bolted on the front, sometimes wrapping around the bar.

So, is there a difference? Or do the two terms mean the same?

    thanks,

That's a nice looking fairing and not a bad price. But it's for a 7" round headlight. Definitely not modable for the dual rectangle lights on the 81 Seca.

I actually just bought an original fairing off of ebay and am really happy with it. So I would keep an eye on ebay if I was you and I will also keep one out for you also. If I spot one I will let you know. :D

I have a Seca 650 turbo fairing available, but this would not be a simple bolt-on- - a bracket would have to be custom made for it to work.
It's in my gallery. PM me for more info.

To answere a fw questions. Yes, the factory fairing are hard to find. The production numbers were low on bike fitted with fairings from the factory and Yamaha did not sell many after the fact as factory upgrdes in the early 80's. Your best chance is to search the internet in hopes to find someone parting out a bike or start check salvage yards. But be warned that if it's from a salvage yard, it more then likely has some damage and would require some repair and in most cases are not worth the money a salvage yard want to change you for it. I've found some older Vetter fairings and bags on the net at a reasonable price. Good luck in your search. Dodger 62
