Crank Vent when installing pod filters

    Greetings fellow XJ owners. :) I'm a newb to this forum and bikes in general. I'm the proud new care taker of a 1982 XJ750 Maxim, whichis my first serious bike (I had an early 80's yamaha 250 dirt bike several years ago).

    As I'm going through this bike, trying to sort out some of it's issues, I'm also planning on some modifications... current topic of interest is that of pod filters. I've read a bit about what people have to say about this in the forum already.

    I've removed the air box (it's was not an easy task) and am curious to know what folks generally do with the crank case vent when installing pod filters. One sugestion a friend had was to run a line from the crank to one of the currenty capped vacuum ports of a car intake. Any feedback or other suggestions?

    You can buy a little vent filter at autozone and stick on there. It actually looks like my pods. Removed the hose and stuck it on there. Looks good.

    I'd skip venting it back to the carbs. If you ever flood the engine due to a stuck float this may be a very bad thing. I saw somewhere on here that someone found a small K&N or something similar that fit on the hose nipple. And it looked pretty trick, too. Hold on. I'm going to see if I can find you a link.... Here's a little something that may help. Those guys may be able to get you a part number or a picture or something.

    Thanks guys. I had thought of that too, but wasn't sure I'd be able to find a filter that small. Good to know they're out there!
