    Greetings!

I'm looking to the more experienced owners out there. My "new" '81 XJ750 needs shockers and a rear tire. I'm looking for recommendations for aftermarket shocks and a good high-mileage tire.

I will be using the bike to commute on twisty, low speed roads with extremely variable surface conditions.

I'm about 200lbs in gear and will not be touring or carrying a passenger often.

I have a Dunlop 404(?) on the font that I will be keeping. In the archives I saw lots of comments regarding Avon Roadrunners, Bridgestone Spitfires, and various Dunlops, but most of the posts were not regarding the XJ750.

    Tanks!

My XJ750 loves its new Spitfires.

That's all I can say. Everyone loves their particular brands. You should be good with any of those, but make sure they have good water rating, as twisties mean you will be running on the sides of the tire alot. I had a Kenda (I know, big mistake). That was fine in dry, but try to lean in a turn on wet pavement and I lost all confidence.

My suggestion on tires are Avons or Metzlers if you really wanna stick to the road.
Some are running Harley shocks on the rear to get it lower, but will give you a much stiffer ride. PD

Where are you located Haz81,,I just removed the stock shocks from mine and put some on from an 1100 seca..Mainly because its a smoother ride for the wife and I.

The shocks I took off are in great shape..Im 240lbs and they rode great.
