Looking for this bar for the "right" OR LEFT side of a 750 Seca - this photo is the left side. Did Secas come from the factory with a bar on both sides? This is a photo I sent to bikeboneyard, or somewhere, but never got a reply.

    Thanks!

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

I should check if they are interchangeable... either way I'd like one for the right side, so if you know yours fits I am interested. And the bolts if you didn't use them for the back rest, but I am sure I can get bolts at the hardware store. Price shipped to 63125?

Thanks, and if your avatar is a FD badge - thanks for what you do!

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

NEGATIVE, the seca has this bar on only the left side.
It is used, by me, more for putting the bike on center stand.
I dont even thing it will bolt on the other side.

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

Every photo I have ever seen of a Seca in my model year range does not have a bar on the right side, but there are similar threaded mouting holes on the right side. My hope has been it was a later available option or dealer accessory - I agree the left side bar is used mainly for hoisting the bike onto the center stand. Having a bar on both sides would make tie-downs much easier to use. Otherwise I'll find some small eye bolts. I haven't yet tried moving my left bar to the right side, but I should check that.

Rescue76 said he removed the bar from the right side of his bike, so there must be a part that fits. Rescue76... care to help us out here? Thanks, and I still want the bar!

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

My parts Seca had them on both sides. Of course, it's a 650 so maybe that's the difference?

Oh yeah... It is/was also a Canadian model...

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

Interesting... I am still expecting rescue76's bar to work, but some comparable measurements may be in order if you'd be willing?

Anyone out there have a non-US model 750 Seca w/ both bars?

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

I use a tail bag made for a harley( straps onto a sissy bar "Kuryaken")

It has a D Ring in each corner.

The front (left and right) DRings are straped to the top mount for the rear shocks, each side respectivly of course.
The rear two are both straped to the rear grab bar.
This is on a 750 SECA, other model may not apply

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

AF is correct on this, LEFT side only on the grab bar. Due to the "left" side bends it won't fit on the right side. If you measure the bolt holes on both sides you will find the distance on both sides identical, making you think there should be a grab bar available for the right side. The parts diagrams i've seen do not show a right side grab bar.
What I think the bolts holes are for is the optional saddlebag/tail trunk mounting bracket.
Anyone with the rear bag combo can confirm this?
And if you have the saddlebag and/or tail trunk, do you also have a rear grab bar?

My '82 seca 650 has grab bars left and right.
    So they do exist.

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

Guess not. Its been a while since I took it off. and I looked around on several websites and tech boards and none of them show the 82 seca 750 having the right side grab rail.

Its instead called the standing handle. And the OEM replacement for that years is only one for the left side...the diagram does not show one for the right side.

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

I checked the Yamaha Parts Diagram and it doesn't show one for the 750 which is why I thought it may have been a later option/dealer install. The bars shown for the 650 and 900 look to be a different shape. Thanks for the offer, and thanks to all for the additional info. The search continues...

    Cheers!

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

The grab handle on the left side is to put the bike on the center stand. They can be duplicated easily. I made another one identical to the stock one. I used a piece of 1/2" heavy wall tubing, bent to match the stock one and smashed the ends with a BFH (big f--in' hammer) and drilled the holes in the ends to mount it. I painted it black to match the other side. It's handy to have it with a cargo net for strapping stuff down. PD

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

You da man! Those are off of the 650, correct? The 750 left side bar has mounting holes on EACH end, so it would take some fabricating to make these work... would you mind taking some measurements? Overall length, and height(width) of the U. In the photo of the one standing, the space between the bench and the bar.

And if they are for sale, price shipped to 63125. Thanks!
(How do you load photos to show in the thread?)

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

I'll try to remember to take some measurements tonight when I'm home. They are off of a 650. The flat part fits on the shock mount and the other end is threaded to accept a screw through a mount on the frame. I'll try to get a pic of it mounted also. One of them (I forget if it was the left or right) had that screw break off and I half-heartedly tried to remove it but was unsuccessful.

If you're interested in having them for your very own, we'll figure something out. J

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

    MaximumX;

No hurry on the measurements, I'll have to measure my mounting points as well. On the 750 the bars mount to the frame under the seat; the length between the mounting holes in my frame vs. the length of the 650 bars will be the key. If I think I can make them work I am interested.

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

Might be easier for you to just buy a left hand side 750 grab bar and bend it using heat to fit the right side. If you take off the left grab bar, flip it over, and line it up on the right side then you'll see that it's a pretty close fit as is. At least it's the right length and size so it'll save you a lot of trouble fabbing one up from scratch, or modding one from a different bike.

Re: Under-seat grab bar on Seca?

Originally that's what I thought I may have to do... my big question was whether a 750 Seca right bar even existed. Since that has been answered, now I get to consider the options. Thanks for the suggestion - I do like the idea of having the mounting holes, BFH (big f--in' hammer) notwithstanding!

You ARE the man! Perfect. I'll do some measuring over the weekend and see what I want to do. I may indeed want them for my very own. THANKS!

RESCUE76; Do you still have the LEFT side bar you removed to add your backrest?

Ok. I FINALLY got to the garage and measured. Stock LEFT side Seca 750 bar is just over 8". About 8.25"

MaxX: Thanks for the photos, it is greatly appreciated, and now I know my options. I think with the mods I'd have to do to the 650 bars, it would be easier to start with a 750 bar.

WTB: Seca 750 under seat grab bar. Anyone?
