There is an "1984 XJ 1100" for sale locally for parts/repair.

What is this bike like when in good shape?

    Are parts available?

Would this bike make a good project?

    All comments welcome.

LOL - I saw that bike too (in the paper).

Cheap bike - harder to get parts for if it actually needed them... there were a few in there that looked interesting.

I thought you might have noticed this Woot. $300 isn't much so I expect that it is in rough shape. However, I thought that the tank might fit my 700 and that would leave me with an 1100 to rebuild.

Did they make an 84 1100? Online i have had a hard time finding it?

For that price it wouldn't be still for sale if I was around. ;)

I picked up a 78 XS 1100 yesterday for $500. (approx 380US). complete minus seat and one sidecover. I'm a sucker for a good project and an XJ1100 would be a good one if it is complete.

Bear in mind XJ1100's were only made in 1982 so there are not many around for parts. They were not made in 1984, however the FJ1100 was. Maybe a typo in the ad.

I have a 84 XJ1100 and love it. Not quite as fast as my 81 midnight special but great bike just the same. A couple of things to remember, The maxim was sold for 3 years in Canada, 82,83,84. Going on line to the Yamaha site (US) all you can find is the 82. Haven't needed a lot of parts for my bike (sat fron 1989 until 2005 only 17000kms) but what I did need, petcock rebuild kits, air filter, oil filter were still available. Anyway for $300 you could make that back just by parting it out if is a basket case. If you buy it have fun and hang on.
