And lastly the gauges and LED cluster. The plastic was all cracked on the gauge bullets so i had to JB weld those back together.... The stock light cluster was totally destroyed, and ugly...

So I cut and rewelded the gauge brackets on about 2 inches lower to be more in line with the handle bars and made up this little LED light box. Green is neutral, red is oil, and orange are turns... i need to add in a Hi beam light but its hard to find Blue LEDs around here i guess... So now I need to find some LED replacements for the gauges and there will be total LED's, sucking no power from the headlight.

There are a couple things that need to be finished up, the wires in the pictures are temporary... i just need to wrap some permanent ones in smurf lines.

    But yea thats my bike.

Starting to look like a V-Max. Nice effort!

Couldn't quite put my finger on it, but yeah, does look a bit like a V-max! I like the overall look of the bike, kind of a modern street fighter meets classic cafe racer style. Basically the same look I'm going for with my 650. What are the guages off of?

thanks guys. The gauges are off the bike.... XJ750 maxim midnight (i think its a midnight...) I just painted the fronts of them black, and the bezels left chrome, then cut them off the bracket and lowered them 2 inches down. They sat way to far off the handlebars in my opinion.
I figure its a midnight because the spedo goes up to 135 (not 80), the 19" front wheels with mag design, not the swirly. ???

Don't think it's a midnight, the midnights have gold wheels and gold trim everywhere, and the guages would have already been black instead of chrome. Yours must be an '85 or '86, in which case I don't believe they even did a midnight edition. This is my midnight edition ('81 model), the wheels are kind of corroded, but you can probably get the general idea:

Oh, and the reason I asked about the guages was because of the white face. All the older Maxim's have standard black face with white writing. You lucky dog!!!

Is that the final rear fender ?

My 2cents would be to match the curve/profile of the tank and side panels (kind of rounded) for the fender and shoot it yellow :)

On the seat.. I like the bober type seat, with short fender.. same style recovered would look like IMHO.

Love the gauges and pipes. :)

yea I have a 85 maxim... so i guess its not a midnight. I also thought it has to be a special model because the rake seemed much more extended than normal maxims ive been seeing around town... Like older sportster rake.

As for the rear fender, thats more or less the final design, though im making a new seat pan that flows into it so you wont see some of the angles... but i was going for a half round half edgey design.... I may or may not paint it yellow. Well see when i repaint the bike soon.
