I am going to be updating my 82 Harley sportster from a 1000cc AMF to a 1340cc S&S and have the choice of a 5 or 6 speed. I have used tthe 5 speeds on most of my bikes but was wondering if anyone had any insight on which might be better. I don't think it will make much difference except maybe in fuel economy with the extra gear. Any ideas?

A friend just traded his 5-speed Dyna for a new 6-speed Softail (I think). He says the extra gear is nice on the highway, but he never uses it around town or in the mountains.

Sounds good to me, now I just have to get all the cash saved and get everything put back together. Thanks for the input.
