as far east as you can get in michigan 43.027407,
so ive been putting as many miles on the seca as i can handle and im curious about one of its traits...

after a run of more than a few minutes at speeds greater than say 45-50 mph, the bike will remain idling around 2,000 for a little while (less than 1/2 minute or so) before dropping back to 1100-1200 rpm...

if i can, i pull the clutch as im approaching lights or other stopped traffic and the rpm will only drop off a little bit at first and then eventually get down to where it belongs...

    is this typical?

    That's not normal.

You PMS may need to be adjusted.

I had the same problem with my old V Star when it was new. It turned out the idle circuit was set lean from the factory, the mixture screws were less than one turn out. I adjusted them to 2.5 turns and my hanging idle went away.

It could be something needs cleaning , but similar was happening to mine and it was the mixture was to weak, gradually richened the mixture until it stopped and its fine now.

    FROM RICK O MATIC

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    I Colortune starting deliberately LEAN.

Then, I bring-out the Pilot Mixture Screw and keep an eye on the Plug.
You'll see it starting to fire and then get start firing with regularity.

When it starts firing with regularity ... I ease the throttle open slightly.
(This can be done with the Idle Adjustment Rod)
I get the revs up above 1,800 and tune THROUGH the Blue.

The Lean side of the Blue isn't enough Mixture to answer for Off-Idle.
    Tweak.
    Tweak!
    Not fractions ... but, Degrees.

Tweak it through the Blue until it show that its Rich.
    Then.
    Micro-tweak. Nudges. A degree at a time ... BACK.

When you are tweaking it BACK and get the Blue ... you're IN!

Reset the Idle Adjustment Rod and listen it Idle at 1,000 to 1,050.
If the Idle is OK and the Plug still shows Blue ...

    Do the nest one!

Check with Rick-O-Matic. You might have a slider piston sticking, If you have to pull your carbs off. You should check the thread on "clunk test" If one of your sliders is sticky it could cause the problem your asking about. Good Luck
