So after several years off of two wheels I can't stand it anymore and am wanting to get another bike. I have always had an affinity for bikes that are a little more seasoned and stumbled on the xj700. I started searching for some to get an idea of price and condition and found this bike.

Can it really be worth this much? There is no way I could afford that for a bike right now but I am just curious as to what I am looking at price wise for bikes in good condition. If this is typical price wise I will drastically lower my expectations but if he is overpriced then I at least have a starting point.

    Thanks in advance

I can't see it being worth anywhere near that... Unless it's some ultra rare, 0 KM version... and then you wouldn't be riding it.

It's certainly a nice looking bike but I can't see paying anywhere near that much. This spring I bought an '82 Maxim 750 with 18k on it for $1000 and it needed nothing.

What should i be looking for when evaluating one for purchase?
Are there any particular quirks of these bikes?

And I guess another important question would be, how available are parts?
Can I walk into my Yamaha dealer and have just about anything for it within a few days?

Cjohner, I got an 82 xj750j with 23xxx miles. Not perfect by any means. Runs good, new dunlop 404's. I will sell for $1200. I am in the St. Louis area

Wow! That looks like a great deal for the '86.

The '85 for $4200? Not so much...
