    Tire's mounted correctly according to the arrow. I would've expected it to go the other way too, but I guess Metzellers are funny like that...

    From a Fazer. Seems to be a more-or-less direct swap. Except, of course, the fender won't fit over the tire. Not that I miss it...

    Nothing really planned. I just like the chunky look of the fat front end so I wanted to see if it'd fit. I dropped the back end a couple inches with some Savage shocks. I think I'll probably go with a typical bobber look and chop off the frame behind the shock mounts.

    I've always been cautious of too much modification, since a cousin of mine fabricated leading link forks for a triumph speed twin, he was about an inch low as he passed over the cluster, he now lives on redondo beach cal, with a squeeky voice!

    Found the shocks on eBay. I think they were about $60 with shipping.

    Here's a free bobber idea for ya, when you lop off the rear, leave the tubes open to accept the bottom frame for a trunk. Remove the trunk and install a "U" shaped piece to finish it off. You could also make-up a removable "pillion" pad for the little lady.

    A 3 way plug and play.

    Seriously though... That's a pretty good idea. I do like the idea of being able to mount up some luggage to the bike if I ever decide to take it outta town. Thanks!

    Oh yeah... This is MUCH better. Never much cared for those swirly XJ wheels.

    And here's the motor, since someone asked. It's a 750 and it only needs the left covers and an alternator to be done. And maybe some soda-blasting... I thought it was pretty good use of an old bbq though. :wink:

    The custom - bobber that's been on my mind would be a bit of a "survivor" look with improvised parts, little chrome, a little "road kill", armadillo front fender, alligator seat, and every visible piece of the bike drilled, grooved, ground, welded, or in some way modified.

    There are quite a few tire manufacturers that run the tread on the front tire in the opposite direction of the tread pattern on the rear tire.

    The Metzeler ME880's on my V Star did that. The Dunlops on my R6 do it too.

    Something to do with wet weather performance I think. :wink:

    I'm thinking the tread pattern has to do with how the tread block meets the road in a leaning turn. Mounted with the "V" facing backward seems to line up the long axis of the tread block with braking and turning friction which is the main responsibility of the wheel. also the source of turning power comes from the road to the tire not vice versa like the rear tire so I guess "backwards" tread direction makes sense.
