This may not be my very first post, but that is okay. Just a quick introduction: I have a 1982 Yamaha Seca 750 which I just fixed up, and now am finding I am prone to the usual 2nd gear problems these Yamahas apparently are known for. Other than having to do a tranny repair, I have to repair the battery warning light on the gauge cluster, and hopefully that is it. Well, at least for now... Perhaps I will have to start a post, showing what I started with on this bike to what I have it to now...

Hi, I am just picking up a 1982 750 Seca on Saturday with the same battery warning issue you have, I hope we can both share information.
I left Ontario a year ago to return to my native BC, welcome to XJ Bikes !

I already did the map thing - it was on the first order of business when I signed up onto the site.

My bike is a 1982 Seca 750. When I picked it up, it was in some rough shape. With the help of my neighbour, I got it running, made up an exhaust, did a complete brake job and installed two brand new tires. Before I got the bike onto the road, I gave the tank and side covers a new coat of paint. Between the work I did myself, plus what I did with assistance from my neighbour, I must have made my bike decent looking, as I was paid a nice compliment from a guy on a far nicer bike than mine! 8)

As I stated earlier, I have to tackle the battery warning light, which I read somewhere on here it is a simple wiring job, and fix a shifter fork. I am hoping I can make it through the summer without having to get into the shifter fork, as I would suspect my bike being out of commission for a little while before I find time to tackle such a job.

My first bike was a 1983 Maxim 400, so this is just a bigger brother to what I was used to riding. I must say, I love these bikes! I have before and after pictures, so maybe I will have to post them up when I get home from work.
