We've all come across these tourist traps that tout the world's largest _ _ _ _ . Let's see how many of these things we can get our XJ's photographed with. Attached link will identify some of these landmarks.
    http://www.wlra.us/search.htm

I just recently missed out on the world's largest elk and turtle. No camera!

I will soon be making a three hour round trip that will take me to 5 different landmarks and will post the results.

I'll get this started with the world's largest Pysanka, (Ukranian Easter Egg) at Vegreville, Alberta

I had to add this one. World's largest survey markers. Alberta/Saskatchewan border in Lloydminster.

Very cool idea, esp since you have such a nice looking bike to put in the pics. As do your friends in that first pic. Now don't you also need a gnome or Flat Stanley or a Campbells Tomato soup can to round out the composition ;^)
    Keep those pics coming.

    Thanks for the compliment.
I may have to single handedly visit all these tourist traps myself. I'm sure gonna put a lot of miles on. :)
I made a trip today and scored four more World's Largest.

World's Largest Softball @ Chauvin, Alberta.

World's Largest Bunnock @ Macklin, Saskatchewan. A Bunnock is a horse knuckle and people play a game where you throw your bunnocks at your opponents bunnocks and knock them down.

World's Largest Tomahawk @ Cutknife, Saskatchewan

World's Largest Canola Plant @ Maidstone, Saskatchewan

HEY GUYS. There must be somebody riding past some of these things. In the next week or two I plan another trip to add three or four more landmarks to this thread.

This is kind of cheating. Here at home, they advertise this as the World's Largest Sundial. A quick internet search proves otherwise. It is big though.

What a fun idea! I live near Gaffney, SC, the home of the world's largest peach. It's in the link you posted.

For anyone riding through southwestern Wisconsin, the world's largest six-pack has been repainted as another brand of beer. That website has it as not existing anymore.

BTW RangerG, you made me look up bunnock on the internet. What a hoot!

Annie. Get a picture with your bike and peach in it and add it to the thread.

I stopped in Macklin one day because I saw some kids playing bunnock. Very old and very strange game.

My 750 and the World's (supposedly) largest totem pole. It is located just a few miles out of Foyil, Oklahoma.

I could not get the XJ closer, but here's the totem pole close-up:

Oh I'll have to remember this thread the next time I go on a long trip. Does my Foamhenge pic count? I sneaked up and took a pic of my bike in the middle of a Stonehenge replica in Virginia.

I made a 1,000 km trip back home and stopped along the way to add these.

World's Largest White-tail deer. World record Boone and Crocket White-tail was shot near Biggar, Saskatchewan.

Next I found the World's Largest Wooly Mammoth at Kyle, SK.

We here in Australia are just a sophisticated with these things as are those in other countries.

    We have:

The Big Pineapple (Thank you Queensland - our version of the deep South)

The Big Banana (Northern New South Wales from memory)

The Big Koala (somewhere between melbourne & Adelaide)

The Big Cow (what can I say...)

Some of my Oz associates may be able to add others...

I grew up in Saskatchewan and I was wondering if Biggar still has the sign as you come into town that says

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day for a ride. No wind, sunshine and hot enough that the little bit of wind creaping in around the cuff of my jacket felt very nice. I headed West and rolled into Mundare at about 10:45. Two Maxims were sitting there waiting for me.
Greg(Veedub88) and his 650, Randy(argh1961) and his 550 and me, Rob with my 550 Seca. We're parked in front of the World's Largest Sausage.

We teamed up and headed north to Andrew and the World's Largest Mallard Duck. The duck was getting some repairs, or it was molting.

The next one is an honourable mention. It's advertised as the World's First UFO Landing Pad in St. Paul. It could be the largest too.

Fourth and final stop was north to Glendon and the World's Largest Pyrogy.

The last two pictures show the pyrogy and sausage from a different angle. The people building these things should take a final walk around before erecting these things.

From Glendon, Greg and Randy headed west and I turned east. The farther I drove the worse the weather looked. I jogged east as far as I could but it still looked like I would hit rain. It held off until I hit a light shower on the outskirts of Lloydminster and 10 minutes later the bike and I were tucked away at home. Lightning and rain came about 15 minutes later. It was a very good day!

I think the real conclusion to be drawn here is that the people in western Canada have way too much time on their hands...having said that, I'm off to see if I can get a pic of my XJ next to this huge fiberglass cow...

OK I've finally got my bike on the road and I took her for a good 600 mile run. Along the way I stopped for a refreshment and I happened to be parked in front of this tourist gem. I just had to take a picture.

You keep bringing up the Roughriders. I have quite a bit of left over colour. Do you want me to put together a custom paint job for you? I can get some Roughrider logo stencils made. We'll put all the years they one the Greycup down the front fender.

Mail me your stuff this winter (I believe that starts sometime in late August in Saskatchewan) and we can have your Roughrider-mo-bile ready for this years Greycup!

World's Largest Moose at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan

World's Largest Turtle at Dunseith, North Dakota

I was then told that the World's Largest Turtle is in Bottineau, North Dakota. I don't know which is bigger but the one in Bottineau may also be the World's Largest Snowmobile.

This has to be the World's Largest Carving of an Early American Settler near Custer, South Dakota. Crazy Horse Monument.

The last one on the trip is the World's Largest Carving of Four American Presidents at Keystone, South Dakota.

Here is another one of a totem pole. This one is in Victoria BC. It is 127ft 6 in. tall. It was the tallest when it was put up on July 2nd 1956. I think there are others that are taller now. Some have guy wires, some are more than one tree put together. That one in Foyil, Oklahoma is sure an eye catcher!

So I finally got my Seca running good enough to take my "World's Largest" motorcycle trip touring the UP.

    first stop:
the cornish pump in iron mountain, mi - the world's largest steam driven pumping engine. (also pictured here is my friend jim's '81 Maxim 1100)

    second stop:
Crystal Falls, MI - home of the humungus fungus. unfortunately, there's no signage or anything commemorating the fungus, but it is arguably the world's largest living organism.

    third stop:
Chassel, MI - home of (as far as they know) the world's largest bear trap.

    fourth stop:
Houghton, MI - home of the world's heaviest lift bridge and (you can see it off in the background) the Quincy Mine which is the world's largest steam hoist.

    5th stop:
Ishpeming, MI - da Yoopers Tourist Trap is home to the world's largest working rifle and the world's largest working chainsaw.

All in all the bike ran great. I also popped in on schooter while i was in houghton and talked bikes and college for a bit. I told him it seemed like there's a lot more girls at michigan tech than there used to be, but he didn't seem to believe me.

Hmm, Maxhog650 and I rode our XJs to the highest paved road in North America (Mount Evans @ 14,258'). I don't think I have a picture of the motorcycles up there though. I guess we'll have to go back this summer!

    I still dont.

shoulda hit me up on the way back, if I would have known- you could have enjoyed (probably) the worlds largest UP dinner night at Wads. no, we didnt have pasties- but they decked the whole hall out to look like a hunting shack, had a live dj playing lots of yooper music, and the food! OMG, we had spaghetti made with some sauce made in the UP, i think it was white fish, from lake superior, prime rib, something else, then we had some yooper pizza with bacon, hamburger and some peppers, then at the deep fry station they had what they called "sticks and stones" which was a small bowl filled with deepfried cheese curds and some variations of cheese sticks, salad bar had a bait pile theme, with apples and carrots, and then some caserols that were crazy, sandwich station had summer sausage, and crackers and like 20 different cheeses and cheese dip, and desert was fruit of the up pie, with lots of berries and pear in it, and to top it all off- they had sever kegs of rootbeer and they gave out these nice etched mugs with icecream in the bottom and you made rootbeer floats.... one of the best dinners ever- my tray and stomach were so full... it was incredible

I might also add the portage bridge has some of the worlds scariest metal grating- i went across the Mackinac bridge with my snow tires- but the grates didnt do squat compared the the grates in that bridge, it grabs the tread of my snow tires and pulls the car around side to side- I wouldnt want to take a bike across it..

OK, here you go. I rode to Abilene Kansas today and took the detour to snap the shot of my XJ and the World's Largest Spur. It's at the entrance to the arena at the fairgrounds. It actually was bigger than I thought it was going to be.

Ranger G - I am glad you put Lake Superior on here. I took one with my XJ last fall, but did not post it because I thought it would have been cheezy, since I live on the lake in Duluth. It's better that you made a road trip out of it to come and see our beloved lake.

As of October 2, this was the World's Largest Pumpkin at 1725# according to Guiness. A larger one could still turn up, but as of October 2, these folks had it.

Go ride your Max to something really huge and take a pic. The people with the Pumpkin are serious biz, they have signs posted for miles and articles in the local papers and stuff...

Too far for me to ride but here is a challenge for someone. Jamestown, ND and you have the largest buffalo, then go west on I94 and at Sanborn you have the largest holstein cow. I don't remember if it is on 94 in ND or 90 in SD has the largest dream catcher.
