I am wondering if this is normal.

When riding my bike, I barely have to turn the throttle to keep going.

The throttle turns freely so it isn't stuck.

And, when I really need to get up and go, like merging onto freeway traffic, I twist the throttly and she really rev's up.

But, when cruising, it seems like it is just barely off the stop.

It doens't idle high so it isn't out of alignement that way.

It's not a big problem, but, I was just curious.

Same thing here on both my Seca and Virago, think that is normal.

Your Pilot Mixtures are set-up "On the Rich Side"
You get a good dose of the supplemental Richness from the Pilot Jets and the acceleration is fine and your engine coasting -- for cruising -- Rich enough to sustain Ignition and allow the bike to "Coast".

If you Turn the Pilot Mixture Screws IN a minuscule amount.
    A tweak.
Only about the width of a Dime or Nickel ...
The supplemental Richness will be lessened and you have a different Throttle response.

With the Supplemental Richness --> Lessened.
The burn is a little faster and the Mixture lessened to reduce coasting.

You should enjoy a steady Idle
    Fast acceleration
    Engine braking.

Keep an eye on the Plugs. Running too lean can damaage Valves, seats, pistons and rings.
Keep some color on the Plugs.
If you look at the Plugs and they are too clean ... return the Mixture to where it was before.
