Ok. Got the bike started today...for the first time in 2 years! :D 8O
Put I had some problems that I didn't like.
    1. If I even slightly grab the throttle the sucker races real badly...I dont have my tach on so I dont know the RPM but it's High. Does anyone know what the problem could be.

    2. Also I need to know how to route my cable ( cluth, throttle, choke)
I will appreciate anyone who can help.

oK...what about the problems Im having does anyone have any advice on how to solve those issues. Once again...bike seems to jump right to high rpms, I have to take my finger and push the throttle linkage all the way down before it will stay at a good RPM. When I took the middle spring on my carbs assembly off It would return close the throttle all the way. Ofcourse I would have to manually push them down using the handle bar throttle. But When I attach the spring back...it does not close all the way...I have to grab the throttle and make it snap back.

Your '83 Maxim 750 has an EXTRA spring to help return the throttle?
In addition to the 4 coiled springs on each throttle plate?

Have you done a running carb sync?
Check the tightness of the manifold boots?
cracks in manifold boots? the 3 caps and vac line?

Check your throttle cable adjustment, I know on mine I had it adjusted too firmly and at idle, the throttle was opening the butterflies so that was giving me a crazy rpm. Also, I had it to tight and when I turned the handle bars the rpm would jump and the other way would cause it to dive and stall out lol. Could be your problem, or something along those lines if you are sure your carbs are working fully.

case of the incredible shrinking file 14, it's got to be max 500 to upload & sometimes that's just not enough.

I have not ran a carb sync, and I dont even have my manifold boot tight at all..I just have the carbs siting in the boots...and yep its three caps and a vac line...oh...and Im talking about the middle spring of the carb assembly.

Sorry, had to type fast due to lightning (I always power down)

You must have your intake clamps tightened, or you will have 4 very large surface areas for vac leak.

"The 3 caps and vac line"- - to quote myself, should be crack free, and in good condition- - a possible source for an air leak.

I just looked at my '82 Maxim 750 ' s carbs and I can't figure out what "middle spring" that you could easily remove, would be. The 4 return springs coil around the throttle shafts, and you have a fifth throttle cable return spring, maybe a PO added to help fix a problem.

Search topic : Manometer . . carb sync. . bench sync

The engine racing problem could be a single butterfly jacked all the way closed, which would lift the other 3 open alot. You could be just a few turns of a screwdriver away from success.
