I have not been ale to find anything matching my problem.

The bike was starting for quite a while. Now it seems that the starters will not go but will sputter when I attempt to bump start it. When I had the starter apart to clean it the brushes were worn and i ordered some new ones from Chacal. My question is will this problem or a problem with the starter itself cause a grounding issue and cause the battery to drain when the bike is off?

My charging circuit is working correctly when I did have the bike running i ran through some quick tests and the juice does go to the battery and it will last a couple of days but after that the battery is at 12.18 volts and now even when i charge the starter wants to be a pain

    Any input is appreciated,

No power is going to the starter until the solenoid is activated by pressing the start button.
It will not drain the battery when the bike ignition is turned off.
It could drain a lot of power from the battery when you start the bike if it's not operating correctly.

    Update question

Once battery was charged again. I attempted to start the bike. The Tach jumped and the starter made a turn or two but no cough or sputter. The starter felt warm.

    Any ideas??

if it was cold to begin, and after a second or two of attempting to crank i would think the starter should still be cool. definatly should not be hot....probably shorted internally.

connect a volt meter to the battery and watch the voltage as you "crank".....if the voltage drops from 12.5 to around 5, the starter is drawing way too many amps. this is all assuming the battery is good, water level is up, etc.
