So I took the time to build YICS tool as I have seen outlined here using the threaded rod, and the small washers. I had a problem instering the tool into the passage as the rubber would expand as I pushed the tool in and cause it to bind on the passage walls. For all of you ou there who have built it, I'm not sure if you have the same problem.

I deciced to simplify the process, and so I hope to share how I did it. All you need is 18" of 3/8" gas line, some good solid string, and a smooth rod or dowel, just large enough to fit inside the tubing.

Frist, take the tubing and flaten it with your fingers about an inch back, and all the way to the end. Take a pair of tin snips, an cut the side off at an angle. Repeat on the other side so that the end of the tube is to a point. It will look like an open mouth from the side. Hopefully you are following here (I'll take pictures if you are interested). I then punched a small hole through the tube about 1/2" from the pointed end. Feed the string through the hole (you will go through two layers of the tube. Tie the string back on it's self, leaving a somewhat loose loop. Take the smooth dowel, wood, or whatever, and sand or grind the end into a point. no need to be too sharp.

Now for installation! Oil up the tubing. Fish the string through the YICS passage using tape on the end of the dowel. Remove the dowel and pull the tubing into the passage using the string. If it gets stuck pull on the end of the tubing. It will streach the tube and thus decrease it's overall diameter. Once the section of tube sticks out from both ends, oil the dowel and insert into the tubing. This will force the tubing up against the wall of the YICS passage, exactly what you need for syncing those carbs.

This is a super cheap way to go. Oh and no worrys on busting the threaded rod bending it to an angle (yeah I did that twice even after heating it up both times).

FYI, if you insert an object in the YICS port make sure it wont melt!!!
If it melts, serious trouble is on the way

forgot to say. I use shreeded strips of cotton t-shirt soaked in marvel mystery oil
Not only does it serve the purpose of blocking the passage, it also cleans it too.
Plus it is super super cheap ;)

Yes, the high heat variety is best. I suppose I should have mentioned that!

:?: I thought that the YISC tool was to block the passages at several locations so the vacuum would still pass through in other locations. Wont the hose block it all the way through?

    Nope.
All four Carbs need to be isolated.
Blocking them from each other is the idea.

Another ingenious idea to help YICS Bike Owners block-off the passage.

Sounds like it would work to me.

Sounds like an elegant and simple solution...not to mention cost-effective! I'd like to see some pics of your setup too.
