Comin home from a visit to my parents house, tryin to beat the rain storm, i was 1 turn away from gettin home and boom. Low sided on a left turn. It had just started to rain and i was purposely going extremely slow, I took the turn perhaps between 5-7 mph and It still just dropped and slid out from under me like a rock, i couldnt believe it. Bent and scratched up the engine case guards, and i bent the left handle bar in just enough to put a dent in the tank.... I am so furious at myself. Just when i finished the bike earlier in the week...

    PS...

this adds one more reason i am absolutely against the new type of black tar roads they are using..... They need to start using the gray asphault again.

Though i guess its smoother on the fall and not craggly... but i dont think i would have gone down had it not been black tar road.

Glad your ok and no one was following close behind, it could have been much worse! Dents and scratches are badges of courage, kinda like an Indian blanket. Also glad to hear the case guards did their thing.

awh man... i am glad to here you didnt get hurt yourself! and yeah those tar roads are realy bad when the rain first starts... its like somoene spilled oil all over them! I remember reading in my Drivers ed book that the roads are slickest during the first few min of a shower.

I spilled my Max on a freshly tarred street just like yours, but I had just put a new front tire on to boot. Painful lesson.

Ooh glad to hear you’re ok and that no one was behind you. I’m guessing you were wearing riding gear? Great news about the engine guards. Hmmm, maybe we need tank guards? LOL.

    That's a good one HooNz. 8O

My experience with ChengShin is not a positive thing. They wear quickly, unevenly (cupping is common), and have lousy weather characteristics. They are round and they do hold air but that is about the extent of their abilities. I'd shuck them in a heartbeat for a decent Dunlop!

Glad you were not hurt. I laid mine down last year, no damage to the bike, but I had one hell of a bang on my leg.

That's a relatively entry fee into 'The Club.' Glad you're OK. I forget what tires I had on my bike before, Continentals, I think, and I rode those in rain, sleet, etc. The only time I had problems (yes, I'm a club member, too) was when I hit a patch of diesel/oil on a turn at night. Now I'm on Dunlop Elites. I don't have as much crap weather exerpience on them as on the old tires - I have a car now for those days ;)

Don't they say the majority of accidents happen within X miles of home (where X is a small number around 5)?

Again, glad you're able to post still.
