    BTW:

Read somewhere here, for the mixture screws.. OUT is richer.. IN is leaner right? I remember reading it but I can't find the post.

The idea of synch-ing two carbs at a time is not new. Someone actually pointed out to me that you can create a loop of clear hose, put some oil in it, and connect it to two carbs at a time. If the oil moves toward one of the carbs, it means that that carb has higher vacuum.

The issues I see with this are:
    - accuracy; not sure how accurate it will be
    - time; it takes time to sync two at a time, and the engine will be very hot. I know from
my experience that it got so hot that the gas in my tank got pressured

I should say though, that in spite of these issues, I actually still sync my carbs one at a time, thus the overheating. I just try to be very quick :? I use a vacuum gauge, but want to try the hose idea, as I think it'll be more accurate.

    Yes, in lean, out rich.

    from my XJ550 manual

1.Start engine and let it warm to operating temperature. Turn it off
2.Remove the vacuum line from the No 2 cylinder intake manifold
    3.put petcock in PRI position
4.remove the rubber caps from the manifolds
5.remove the right side plug of the YICS passage and insert YICS tool
    6.connect sync hoses to manifolds
7.Start bike and warm briefly (let idle around 1,000 RPMS
8.the NO 3 carb has no sync screw so the other carbs must be synced to it

NOTE: the carbs will be synced in pairs No1 and No2 to each other and No 3 and No 4 to each other… then the two sets will be synced to each other.

9.turn the mixture screw between carb 1 and 2 to sync
10.turn the mixture screw between carb 3 and 4 to sync
11.turn the mixture screw between carb 2 and 3 to sync the two sets together

NOTE: all should have the same reading now, if not re-do step 9 -11

12.remove the YICS tool and put the cap back on, tighten to 16 ft.-lb
13.remove the sync lines and put the rubber caps back on
    14. reconnect vacuum line from tank to cylinder No 2 manifold
    15.turn petcock to ON

    should be ready.

in this case i see useing two sets of the 2 port manometers as the way to go... connecting one set to carbs 1 and 2 and another to carbs 3 and 4 then syncing them as stated above.

    A few quick comments:

    1) That's not my design Seca550_SF, I just linked to it. Don't want to take credit for someone else's work ;)

    2) In the orginal post above, the order is slightly off. Synching 2&3 is saved to the end. Synch the outside pairs first, then the middle pair.

    3) Aschulhoff: I'm not sure what you mean in #8 of your outline. The synch screws arent' specific to a carb, they join the pairs of carbs - one between 1&2, one between 2&3 and one between 3&4. What did you mean?

    4) Asculhoff: In #9-#11 of your outline you say 'mixture screw.' You mean the synch screw, don't you? Just trying to avoid confusion.
