So I started my "Bobber" build today.. Well other then just adding "forward controls" last weekend..

    What I've done today:
I took off my exhaust. N just left the headers! Sounds GREAT in my opinion. I couldn't stop riding today after I did that.. N my sunburn shows it 2! :p I made my struts. which r 10" long with the holes 9" eye 2 eye. I still need 2 make the holes bigger so I can mount 'em  . I took everything off of the back of the bike. I then cut the frame some ways back from the strut mounts! N there she sits until I can get some more sh!t...

Oh I almost forgot... I love my house more tonight!!! While I was taking off the shocks. My bike took a fall n the rear dropped hard!! If it weren't 4 my house braking the fall of my bike... I would have had some "damage" done 2 my bike.. But NO damage was done n all was good! :D

    Pics of the progress:

As u can tell in the last pics. I had 2 dig like 4" down into the dirt. So my bike could atleast be "stable" enough on the kick stand... I guess it's gonna be raining the next 4 days.. So it looks like Im not gonna have much more done any time soon.. But I'll post up as I do! :)

N on my forward controls. I "think" I know what I need 2 do 2 make my rear brakes work.. I just need 2 do it! Hopefully The rain report is WRONG.. So I can keep workin' on my bike n get sh!t done! :D

I did forget 2 say what was being put on my bike...

I have a Sportster bobtail rear fender n taillight assembly 4 my rear fender. Once thats on I'll take measurements 4 the seat I want.. I bought(but haven't got 'em yet) these handlebars: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 36586&rd=1
After the rear fender is installed. I'll mount my aftermarket turnsignals. I have my round headlight. But I'm waiting on myself 2 "make-up" my mind on the speedo n tach options.. Before I tackle that part of the build! N finally I have something in store 4 a "custom" look on the bike...

What kind of seat are you going with?
And give a comparison of how it sounds with straits on it.
    **Edit* and which "round headlight"?

I'll either buy a cheapy universal solo seat off of ebay, Custom make my own seat, OR buy a "NASTY" custom seat! I really have 2 wait until my struts n rear fender r on.. 2 make my mind up! I dont know how 2 post vids online or anything of the sorts. So I most likely will not be able 2 give u the "comparison"! :(

    The round headlight I have is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 41410&rd=1

But since I bought that headlight. I've "learned" a thing or 2 on the headlight set-up... N I've found better deals n what not... Oh well at the time thats the option I knew of. With all other options "failing" 4 me..

What kind of bulb does that light use? If you can, you might want to upgrade it as 25/25w doesn't sound like a whole lot of light. Esecially if you're going any Maine backroad riding after dark.

It finally stopped raining up here in Maine.. I put on the struts n then test fitted the rear fender. Once I have the fender test fitted the way I want it. I'll rip the struts n fender off 4 paint..

    Pics:
    With the struts on..

Now I have 2 options for the fender fitment.. I can use the "already" holes on the fender. 2 attach it with!?!
    Pics:

    OR

I can drill new holes above those holes n drop the fender down abit!?!
    Pics:

I'm thinking I like the "lower" fender look. N drill new holes! But opinions r welcomed! N yes theres plenty of room from the tire 2 the fender still..

Oh n dont mind the license plate bracket. It doesn't hit the tire. I didnt tighten the bolts tight enough. So the bracket slid down..

    Bike is looking good!

The forward controlls and rear fender are sweet lookin!

Just one question... Why not just get some short, stiff shocks if you're not gonna go with a full hard-tail frame?

Don't take it the wrong way, I just never got the reasoning behind solid struts. Looks the same as a bike with shocks, just hurts more to ride. ;)

Its all good man! Well I really dont like the look of (most) shocks. Esp. if there not "fuctional".. I would love 2 go with a "true" hard-tail frame. But I don't have the means of doing so... :( So struts it is!! I personally like the look with the struts on there.. Yes it would look better if I had a true hard-tail frame..

I'd take it for a ride first...you may be going back to shocks before you know it. I did the strut thing with mine and just about ended up in traction from the ride. You will have to avoid any potholes at all costs. Even cracks in the pavement are annoying.

IMO unless you like the square edges on the top of the struts with the rounded fender it would looks nice to round the top of your struts to match. Since they are solid you won't have to worry about weakening them. All I can think is Wow guys around here thought I was nuts for just getting a paint job in mid season you are going all out.

Kaos... Check the rotational direction on your front tire. It looks like it's backwards there should be an arrow on the sidewall somewhere. Most fronts should look like they're giving you the peace sign as you ride.

My appologies. This must be one of those tires that don't fall into the "most" category. If fact, they look like bridgestone spitfire s11's and that would make you 100% correct.
