My '82 750J Maxim has been running well. All of a sudden it won't start. The cylinders are getting fuel, but there's no spark. It is a coil issue?

Start with the obvious stuff like the fuse.

Usually both your coils won't fail simultaneously. It could be the cdi, but it may be a safety relay or a switch like rpgoerlich said. You need to work through it and eliminate components. Do you have a wiring diagram for your bike and a voltmeter?

I checked the fuses first, and all appear okay. I also checked the stop/run switch.

Fuses can look good and still be bad. Pull and Check them with a meter.

If you haven't replaced the fuse panel, this would be suspect as well. Those little tabs on the fuse holder get corroded up, tend to fracture at the bottom and dont make a good connection with the fuse.
