I will say I think I did get an improvement when the choke is off. Mine has never run for any duration with full choke. But now when I use the...
New throttle shaft seals did not help with hard starting when cold.
Took the time to pull the carbs and replace the throttle shaft seals. No big deal and the old seals were definitely leaking and old. No issues....
Ok last winter I went to the church of clean and rebuilt my 1986 XJ700 Maxim Hitachi 34C carbs. I did not replace the shaft seals (bad decision)....
Sorry I meant to add 1986 XJ700N
My issue is similar, but when it is cold I use full choke and it starts right up then runs a short while and dies. From that point it is a bear...
Any other ideas. I think the foam had harden some over the years.
So the seat is not too comfortable. I am wondering if I were to remove the seat cover could I sculpt a gel insert into to foam? Second question...

Today I got insurance, got an inspection and got the license plate. Waiting now for warm weather! Ready to ride
Took my 86 XJ700 for its first ride since I started the work. Love it so far. Lots of work done and all has gone pretty good. Learned a ton.

Well the bike runs so that is good. I rebuilt and setup the carbs and fired if up with an auxiliary tank. I had some very slight flash rust in...
There are indeed good people out there.
Tabaka, my Hitachci 33's have a 1mm setting. Pretty much I guess the bowl is brim full. Not a lot of allowance here for +/-
Sorry images were too big
I just wanted to provide to all about my experience with Jim French. It was outstanding (5-stars). First I made contact with and then OI sent...
Thanks guys. I may get back with more questions

First I want to say I am so happy to have this forum as a resource, I was drawn to the Maxim after rebuilding a 1971 Yamaha R5D 350. Anyway...
