Apologies. It's a 1981
Have owned this bike for a few years and never rode it. I had high hopes to do so, but never took the plunge. It's been stored out of the weather...
Purchased mine stock. Even had the Yamaha tool kit under the seat. At first I wasn't sure about the king/queen seat, but it has since grown on me....
No worries. The driver would pass out from the heat first.
Could always replace them with evens. :)
This is the first single seat conversion that looks good to me. Is it off the shelf or did you make it yourself. Are you adding a pillion or will...
Nice looking. Daily commute would seem to indicate it runs well. Proof would be in the riding....
Age doesn't make a bike unreliable. Most likely unreliability is from all the previous "cut this and replace that" that went on. :)
I live within several miles of Eastern Marine. Good people to deal with.
Just an observation. We recently spent 2 weeks in Washington state. One thing I noticed was that there were quite a few vintage Japanese bikes on...
Guessing this is a XS750 https://newjersey.craigslist.org/mcy/d/yamaha-xj750/6740861387.html
I thought the balance was to work on the bike less and ride it more.
The diagram posted has the color codes listed. The small letters indicate color. Colored diagrams are not typically produced by the manufacturer....
A multi meter can be your friend
I picked up this wheel some months back intending to do a spoked wheel mod on my 81 xj650. I was unable to find a rear wheel for a reasonable...
The same happened to me when i was trailering my 81 to a new location. Fortunately, no damage occurred. I learned something that day about...
I guess this is a bad time to mention that im 6'2" . Says a lot for the XJ series. "The bike for all ages and sizes"
45 minutes away. For anyone in the mid -Atlantic area. https://lancaster.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1982-yamaha-xj650-for-sale/6704791150.html
How about the bezel on for the 8" headlight?
Well he did come down to 1200. Still too much in my eyes as thats what i paid for mine complete and original.
Minutes away from me. Price seems a bit steep. The big ding in the tank is a detractor....
Would enjoy seeing the trials and tribulations of the dual brake conversion.
An upgrade kit is available here. Well worth the time and money....
The "no title" always leaves me wondering.
I guess the flak made a direct hit.....poof
There was at least one other thread around here about this mod and i seem to recall the 84 Virago (perhaps the L model) was used as the donor bike...
Must have a heck of an audio system if it needs another battery. :)
i think the others probably answered your question. I was trained in electronics/electrical theory years ago but am not specifically knowledgeable...
Agreed. I ordered some things a while back. I think i had them in 2days or so.
The principle component of a rectifier is the diodes. They convert the AC current to DC. The other diodes may be protecting against accidental...
looking forward to your report
I think ive seen more posts on CL advertising half done bobbers than any other style. The excuses for them not being finished are varied but...
Careful friend. I was thinking while driving yesterday and almost ran a stop sign.....twice :)
Understood.
I did see that. My question has more to do with using a smaller gauge than having to move the originals to a higher mount point.
Perhaps sacrilegious, but would smaller gauges solve the fitment problem?
i'm diggin it.
even cheaper here. https://www.partsgiant.com/p346821-emgo-classic-shocks-with-eyelet-mounts?r=mg-25&r=c-23192&f=116288
Here's your chance to own one of those rare automatic Secas. It needs just about everything, but you can own it for a mere $500....
Quick question. I had seen a 650rj light bucket online and they state that its 9" in diameter. Im guessing thats just a misprint or did some years...
I can't answer your question but here is a good primer on plugs. If i were to take the advice of the article, i would say not to use them as they...
That tears it. Now that i know the bike isnt stock i might as well do the wire spoked wheel mod. :)
Yup...familiar with that. This is the shock on the bike now. Do they appear to be the OEMs?[ATTACH]
Google seems to like Progressive the most. I did see Hagon but didn't look further. When i bought the bike, i didnt think to ask if the shocks...
Other than Progressive shocks, is there another brand that is suitable? Air adjust is not necessary.
Works for me.
That would probably be the one I would keep an eye out for.
Now that looks really good to me. Nice job.
Thanks. I just prefer bikes with round lighrs. Just a thing i have.
I like my original silver...or whatever its called. If i was going to repaint, id go non-standard and go with gun metal gray.
