Thanks K-moe, I’m going to set the idle mixtures back to the stock 2 1/2 turns out. That is where they have run the best, but they are a little...
Yes the levels are all the same at 2mm. I'm very cautious about setting them up right. I might just have to put the ugly carbs on and live with...
I agree, but I like to figure out the problem too. Just takes time and effort.
And I was wrong. Temps are 27 degrees and it wouldn’t start again. Guess it is only a warm weather bike. Took 20 minutes to start. Only thing...
So far setting the idle mixture richer has fixed the problem. She sat for 4 days and started right up with fuel turned to on. I’ll see as time...
Timbox, there isn’t an off on the Petcock only on, prime, and res. As for the battery, it is new and always on a tender. Thanks. Like Polock has...
The bike will start if I start it everyday. If I let it sit for about 3-4 days, I have troubles starting it. I do believe it is the idle mixtures...
I’ll try that this weekend. Mine have no leaks.
I do have the stock Petcock. I normally put it on prime to start it also, not change. Odd is I waited an hour after trying to start it and it...

anyone have a headlight and bezel for a 1982 xj550 maxim ? I see some headlights on ebay but all the Bezels look dented. Would like a striaght one.
I've sprayed the exhaust for leaks, nothing there, cam chain tensioner has also been adjusted when the carbs where off for rebuild.
Good idea on the hoist. I have to look at my manual more, I believe it is the hydraulic tensioner that is making the noise. Raising the idle only...
All of my video files are to large. Even if only a 7 second long file. But listening to the files. I really think the noise is coming from the...
Thanks for the help, I figured it would weigh more than my cb350 twin. 130lbs. Is about what I would think. I'll have to come up with a hoist to...
I bought a second xj550 maxim cheap. This one someone started to make it bobber. They didn't cut up any part of the frame or fenders yet. This one...

So I have adjusted the valve all in spec now. I’ve added the idle adjuster screw with a bushing to the center of the carbs. Checked spark plugs....
Thanks for the help, getting the bike back together.
Thanks, sounds high, I was thinking more like 4 lb. But I'll do 7. Thanks
