When you say you cleaned the bowls out,was there alot of gunk in them? If so your jets and other passages may be plugged up. A good carb cleaning...
Make sure you clean out the old dried up fluid and gunk from the piston and caliper bore,I used a dremel with a small green scotchbrite pad...
Sounds like its flooding to me,did you change the jet sizes?
Its what happend with my 550,I changed the vacuum line and it wasn't flexable enough so it end up kinking,And the bike hung at 3000 rpm,I changed...
Check your vacuum line from the carb to gas tank,If it is too soft and collapsing it will make the rpms stick or be slow to return to normal as it...
When i did mine it made a huge difference,It wasn't too hard, just bleeding took some time.....
Its not just the diameter, they are tapered as well, best to just get the ones for the bike,When i did mine i just got new ones,no guess work..
I would use a jack just for support on the cross beam .When you remove the front wheel the bike should sit on the rear tire no probs
Just buy new ones, they don't cost much.....
Ok found the problem(s) One of the wires connected to the cutoff relay was corroded, cleaned it up and it shuts off fine. The old fuse panel was...
Plug looks ok,I'm thinking its either a bad relay or the kill switch.....
My part didn't come in today but I removed the old ignition,Much to my surprise the bike will still turn over when I hit the starter button.Bad...
Thanks guys, I'm gonna replace the ignition switch with an aftermarket one.Should have it by Saturday!! I'll post the results!!
yep
when i turn off the key, nothing happens,it stays running and no head light at all.
Its connected to the side stand,if you try to put it in gear it will die,(with side stand down)
could be your clutch saftey switch as well,Which would explain why you have to put it in neutral to restart it.....l
I think its the solenoid too,I did surgery on mine and resurrected it...
Being uninformed is expensive.....
I agree with rick-o-matic....Get what you paid for...
sounds like the starter relay is sticking........
I'm looking for the same deal,I would do it if it was cheap enough....
I'd fight the ticket so he has to show up in court and look like a dink
Hey maybe check your vacuum line to the petcock
I chose to go with circlips on my forks They work well....
Where in toronto are you? I'm in Brampton,if you need some help. You should check your fuse box if its the old style.
It only has one brake disc on the front its a 550 seca.
Are you sure its not a 550?
Where are you located?
Make sure all oil and grease are removed before painting.......
it will go down, but What i did was when I squezzed the handle,i opened the bleed screw, but when releasing i closed it,so it doesn't suck air in...
I like the inline 4 power, and being able to fix it myself,i'm thinking of buying another one,a 650 seca!!!!
I took my 550 to the local tim hortons and parked it with some other metric cruisers, and was chatting with a guy who was driving a nice FLH...
I like the stock look, that small tank just looks like its on the wrong bike.I like the apehangers tho...
Is it the original fuse panel? They are kinda flaky and should be replaced with the blade style
I used an old bicycle inner tube to cover mine up,coated them with goop first then slid the inner tube over it.It was a tight fit but no more...
Did you get them?
if you pm me your email i will try to send you what i have....
Sounds like the valves are tight, when it heats up the valves are not opening enough hence you cannot restart it until it cools down,,,,,,
The only way the front wheel ever comes off the ground on a Harley....
with a vacuum gauge, you attach it to the vacuum port on the intake manifold. But i think your prob is valves for sure,I took mne for a drive and if...
Check the connector under the tank,on the left side, mine was corroded and stopped it from flashing...
I would think parts would be more plentiful for the 650....I had an xs 1100 it was a little too much bike for me,i'm 5'9 and still was on my toes!...
Check your wiring connectors to the coils, they can get pretty corroded
Yeah that used to happen with mine come to think of it,I did the valve adjustment and balanced the carbs and its running much better.....
Have you disassembled the carbs and cleaned them? Sounds like the pilot jets are ok but the mains may be plugged.....
check your rubber engine mount bushings........
I'm in Brampton......
Hey that rotor looks slick,Bigfitz...Thanks for the input,i'm gonna work on it this weekend....
i think the 650/750"s are a bigger diameter tube, you can order them aftermarket for like 45 bucks each. I went with a top slash to look like stock.
