Just reading April 2011 issue of American Motorcyclist and they have listed the top fifteen roads in America as voted by A.M.A Riders. Proud to say that my Seca 750 has been on two of the top three. #2 is my personal favorite and #3 is better than an amusement park, ear to ear grin and you can't wait to turn around and do it again.
#1 Beartooth Highway, Montanna and Wyoming
#2 Blue Ridge Parkway, North Carolina
#3 U.S. 129 "The Tail of the Dragon" on the North Carolina Tennessee border.
I feel a spring trip coming on.

I am heading to the Blue Ridge Parkway today!!! I am fortunate enough to live within a 1and ahalf hour from one of the entrances. Also the "Dragon " is awesome ....318 curves in 11 miles. Yeeeee Haaaaaw. Beautiful country up that way too. By the way it's 11 am and 69 degrees, fixin to get off puter and get on scooter!!!!

The road through Beartooth Pass deserves its rating.

It's impossible to describe. The 54 miles between Red Lodge and Cooke City are unending INSANE steep tight switchback highway; it looks like the Alps or something.

I'll have to agree about the Beartooth highway. It is a blast to ride and can't wait to take it in the other direction next time.
Another one that's not on the list if Highway #12 from Missoula, Montana to Lewiston, Idaho. That's another one of those roads that are made for bikes.

Here's a shot of the Seca on the top of Beartooth Pass, 2009. The old girl wasn't real happy at just about 11,000 ft elevation. It's more of a prairie bike.

    Thanks GEHIV

Was curious as to see where california ranked.

Definently agree with #5, Hwy 1 - Pacific Coast. One of those roads you need to think about gas on as you'll lose track your having so much fun and forget to check when you do pass a station.

I've driven Route 36 in a car, definently agree with that one too, though you'll soon hate VW vans if you drive it....

Haven't done the angeles mountains but I"ve heard it's amazing when it's not 100+ degrees

I know it's technically about 3 different roads, but the loop around Lake Tahoe is amazing, and a nice place to cool off when it gets hot down here in the valley.

Pbthoe - man you're lucky to live that close, enjoy the ride!!!
Bigfitz52 and Painter D - Thanks for the first hand accounts
Ranger G - I'm out of breath just thinking about 11,000 feet. Awesome pictures though, especially the bottom one. Enjoy the Sun Road this summer.
i_am_the_koi - California did well, with 3 out of the 15, much better then Pennsylvania 0 out of 15.

Yup, I can't complain about being in the area I am... So much beauty and alot of it built for a motorcycle.

And I think there's four, route 58, but the only reason I can think of it being listed is for pure top speed run's on whatever your running, it's straight for 100miles and absolutely no life/cops/cross traffic. So with the right bike or car, it's only an hour drive or less.
