1980 exhaust compatible???

    Okay, I did a healthy amount of searching and I hope this isn't a noob question that is asked a 100 times but I couldn't find the answer. I have a 1980 xj650 Maxim with exhaust that has holes on the bottome and is cracked all the way around.
    I have found exhaust from an 82 Maxim but I can't figure out if the two are combatible without doing any modification.
    Thanks in advance, there is a ton of information that I have found from searching in the past and I appreicate everyones knowledge.

    The headers are in great shape, its just the can's but I thought I read during the searches that the 1980's are all one piece??? so that is why I am not sure if the 82's will work. I am new to working on the bike so trying to learn... Thanks again.
