    1982 Yamaha Seca 750 (XJ750R)

    37886 Kilometers, Original Vancouver bike.

Not running due to a failed starter clutch. This was my worst nightmare. It sounds like a box of rocks is being shaken, not stirred, while the starter is running.

I took the starter off and checked the teeth on the gears. Both are good. I bench tested the starter and you can hear the starter internals sound bad too. It used to ride well.

It will crank for maybe half a second, might fire or it might not. 99% of the time it no longer fires.

    The Good:
-I cleaned the carbs and they were tuned/balanced by yamaha sports shop.
-Newer NGK spark plugs and leads.
-Redline 20w50 fully synthetic oil change (JASO rated) with a K&N KN144 oil filter.
-MTL hypoid gear oil change for rear hub. (SAE80 GL-4 equivalent)
    -Hiflo air filter.
-Brand new Century Battery AGM battery still under warranty.
    -Full tank of gas.
-Tires were replaced 2 years ago with Bridgestones.
-Brakes in good health front and back.
-New yamaha 33M vacuum petcock, I have the old style petcock if you want to rebuild it as well as a manual petcock. (Yes, the 33M actually fits. I have no interference issues with the carbs.)
-New low-pro modern fuse panel (needs to be installed, wiring is ugly.)
    -Clean registration, no accidents.

All the maintenance items have been cared for. Engine and drivetrain are otherwise in good shape.

    The Bad:
    -Starter clutch failure.
-Seat hinge doesn't have the pins.
    -Not the most pretty bike.
-Wiring is messy. New low-pro fuse panel included.
-Turn signals need to be wired.
-Mirrors need to be installed. Aftermarket new in box, you can see one is on it now.

As much as I appreciate the bike, it's not in good enough shape for me to bother with the starter clutch service. Might be best for you as parts, maybe you know a fix that I don't.

$1000 needs to be trailered or trucked. You might be able to drive it home if you bump start it, but if you stall you're in danger.

So, are you selling parts off this bike or trying to sell it whole ?
